About me
Louis Turpin was the 2016-17 District Governor for Rotary District 7210 in New York’s Hudson Valley. Louis, a member
of Rhinebeck Rotary, is a recipient of Rotary International’s highest honor, the Service Above Self Award, as well as a
Paul Harris Society member, a Rotary Foundation Major Donor, and a Bequest Society member. At the Rotary District
level, Louis currently serves on the District 7210 Executive Board and as serving as the District’s Learning & Development Committee Chair, the International Service Chair and the Mid-Northeast PELS Learning & Curriculum Co-Chair, among other duties.
Louis was also on the US Board of Directors for Rotary’s official disaster relief Project Partner ShelterBox and is proud to have personally played a role in ShelterBox being twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Louis was a member of the Albert Schweitzer Institute’s delegation to the Nobel Peace Laureate World Summits for four recent years and was recognized for his humanitarian work by President Barack Obama with the President’s Volunteer Service Award for eight consecutive years.
An architect by profession, Mr. Turpin is married to Julie Turpin, who is a professor of business administration at the
Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, and they have three adult daughters, Alissa, Amanda and Sarah.
